Reason for the Ostomy Surgery

Many patients have to go through the ostomy surgery because of any other chronic disease like cancer. Such patients undergo a traumatic experience.

The surgery creates pain, worry, and shame in a patient. Moreover, it brings a lot of physical change. Your whole system of excretion gets changed permanently or temporarily. Moreover, a patient’s belly and stoma are red, swollen, and larger after the operation. This causes distress and pressure on mental health.

Social Circle

When an ostomate has to cut his social circles, it brings stress and depression. Ostomates feel shame in the initial days of surgery. They avoid meeting their friends and public appearance. They do not feel confident in joining the office again. This creates low-esteem in patients.

The Economic Status of a Patient

Ostomates needs proper care and medical support after their surgery. Many patients cannot afford the entire process of stoma care. Insufficient patients face more anxiety and fear.

Age

Age is one of the essential factors in creating pressure and anxiety. The young people have goals and too much to do in life; therefore, they are more vulnerable.
